Conventional Seismic Surveys
The majority of GT conventional seismic data acquisition is carried out with the use of vibrators and explosives as the energy source, but other types of sources can also be used if required. The Company owns and operates a wide variety of seismic equipment, including the latest types of buggy-mounted vibrators of up to 65 000 pound peak force, dedicated drilling equipment, and the most modern Sercel and Input/Output recording systems. Moreover, each seismic party is equipped with the latest Pelton and Sercel source control electronics and digital recording equipment, for shallow refraction and uphole shooting to determine static corrections and optimum shot depth. Tremendous mobility and reliability of this advanced technology, enables field crews to operate in the most cost-effective manner and attain or exceed QHSE and production objectives.
Multicomponent (3C) Seismic Survey
In cases where results by conventional seismic methods have not been sufficiently adequate, multicomponent (3C) seismic technology brings great advantages. This includes additional information carried by the elastic wavefield and also specific features of the PS wavefield, which is capable of providing successful imaging of difficult subsurface structures. GT offers a comprehensive suite of converted-wave seismic surveys, from survey design, through acquisition to processing and interpretation, both in surface seismic and vertical seismic profiling (VSP).
Shallow High Resolution Seismic Surveys
Conventional seismic survey technology is optimised to obtain maximum reflection strength and resolution, within the desired target depth range, where oil and gas deposits occur. To detail shallower or more complicated targets like the boundaries of salt domes, dome caps or glacial disturbances, GT offers high-resolution seismic surveys, utilising three types of seismic source; Mini-vibrators, standard vibrators or weight drop, together with 24 bit seismic telemetry systems for high resolution data recording. The Company also provides fully integrated services in this field, with combined planning, acquisition, processing and interpretation services also available.
Environments
Seismic data acquisition in transition zones, mountains, jungles or protected areas always posses a great logistical challenge and requires extensive experience as well as strong survey management. No matter what onshore environment GT is required to operate in, all necessary resources are at its disposal to successfully face challenging programs.
To overcome obstacles associated with tidal marine environments, very wet and boggy fields, swamps, cluttered shallows, ecologically sensitive marshes and hardly accessible mountainous areas - specific approach to seismic field operations is required. GT's crews use environmental specific operating equipment, site specific HSE plans and operational procedures as well as highly trained staff. Integration of skills and creativity together with technical resources and GT know-how brings guarantee of maintaining the highest geophysical and operating standards in every environment.
People
Highly-trained staff and state-of-the-art technology combine to make a perfect combination at GT. This combination has become the most important asset of the Company, assuring excellent output and compatibility of GT's work methods with those of oil companies all over the world. The competence and commitment of GT's personnel are recognized throughout the seismic industry and has become a truly unique strength of the company.
Energy Sources
To overcome challenges brought by specific environments, GT pays great attention to every detail of seismic field operation process. The crucial stage is project design and planning where the Company focuses on selection of optimum resources to attain geophysical and HSE objectives. Application of the optimum energy source is one of the decisive factors as GT can provide data acquisition with the use of vibrators, explosives, air-guns or weight drop as energy source.
Dynamite operations are handled according to the highest National and International industry security and safety standards and specialised drilling units ensure required daily production of the seismic crews. Employing environmentally specific drilling equipment and professional survey management, are decisive factors in making GT's crews, cost-effective and efficient.
The Company is very experienced in carrying out mixed receiver and mixed source surveys. To ensure smooth seismic field operations in mixed environments, GT utilises boats with air-guns, dedicated portable heavy-duty drilling equipment and recording systems designed to operate in a seamless network arrangement.
